20 children in Year 5 have joined The Write Team Project run by Bath Festivals. Every Thursday morning they will work with Emma Metcalfe and a variety of different writers. This term they are enjoying looking poetry and writing their own.
Here is some poetry based on Historical Objects that they have written:
A Lancaster
By Joshua
I can see all the big grey bombs dropping like mad
I can hear the bombs drop and explodge
Again and again
I can feel the cold air and warmth against me.
I wish that England would win the war.
My friends are my engine and the engineer.
A Roman Helmet
By Ben
I can see all kinds of sweaty hair under me,
I can see the Roman Baths right ahead.
I can hear Romans shouting at war,
and jumping into the baths.
I can feel gold metal and smooth hair.
Henry VIII’s Crown
By Nancy
I can see lovely ladies sitting near me,
I can see people staring at me.
I can hear people say I am beautiful,
I can hear screaming coming from outside.
I can feel cosy pillows,
I can feel cuddly soft hair.
I wish I could speak,
I wish I was alive.
A Spitfire
By Thomas
I can see German cities set on fire
I can see flames lighting up
I can see bullets going everywhere.
I can hear loud, wailing sirens,
I can hear people screaming.
I can feel the air rushing past me,
I can feel bullets zinging close by.
